Since 1974, the optional 1% sales tax has supported hundreds of community projects for the communities in Natrona County.

FAQs

What is the One Cent Optional Tax? It’s a 1% tax (1¢ of every $1) on taxable items—not including food—that are purchased in any Natrona County community.

Will it raise my taxes? NO!

The first 1% optional sales tax was voted on and passed almost 50 years ago, with Natrona County residents renewing it every four years since then. Your taxes will stay the same after it passes on November 8, 2022.

WHAT IS A 1% SALES TAX?

W.S. 39-15-204(i)
(i) An excise tax at a rate in increments of one-half of one percent (.5%) not to exceed a rate of two percent (2%) upon retail sales of tangible personal property, admissions and services made within the county, the purpose of which is for general revenue.

NOTE: Wyoming law mandates a 4% tax statewide, split between the state, counties and cities/towns.
